In my dream, I was supposed to embark on my weekend trip to the mall. Along the way I stopped by a store along Dart Street to pick up some snack. At the store, I thought about grabbing a meal so went to the store next door. There, I saw this man who looked like a foreigner. His skin was pale; he had a receding hairline and a stubble. He was dressed in white sleevless shirt and slacks. He didn't seem like someone I knew...and yet he looked familiar.
It was when I went back to the other store that I realized who it was: Gordon Matthew Sumner himself...the musician also known as "Sting"! I don't know what he was doing there or why he looked the way he did. But it didn't matter as I found him in the other store later. Since Sting was a celebrity, it was natural that people would be swarming him. After all, as far as Filipinos go, any foreigner is a celebrity. At first, there were only three of us there as he gave an "impromptu press conference" (I was sitting on the "conference table" to his left) but soon more people came. Later, the onwer of the store decided it was time for lunch and gave everyone a boxed meal that consisted of rice and "lumpiang shanghai". Check out my Doberdog's Art Update blog for more "lumpia" reference.

In this dream, we were residing at the Fabie estate where my maternal grandparents used to live. So I was on my way to see a movie at a local mall and I had a five hundred peso bill to take with me on the trip. That's roughly ten dollars and regular movie tickets here in the Philippines cost about the equivalent of three dollars.
Anyway, I was going to take a jeepney to the mall and I know full well that jeepney drivers are loathe to provide change for a five hundred peso bill as jeeepney fare costs only seven pesos...or fourteen cents.
So I had to stop at a nearby foodstand to have my five hundred divided into bills of smaller denomination. Unfortunately, the guy running the foodstand didn't have change either. But as it happened, one of his friends was passing by and he asked his friend for smaller bills. That friend (more about him later) didn't have change either and asked his friend, who also happened to be passing by, for change. Thankfully, the second friend had change for five hundred pesos.
Later in the day, I was telling my mother about this particular incident. I first told her about the second friend...then the first friend. The thing is, there was something very odd about that first friend. And it was the fact that he loooked like the Knave of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland!

This is not the knave you're looking for. Savvy?

In this dream, my mother was going to buy groceries and she left me this snake to take care of. In real life, we don't have a pet snake but I remember a neighbor of ours had one.
So she left me the snake by wrapping it around my finger. It must've been a baby viper considering the way it looked and the fact that the whole thing fit my finger with room to spare.
Now I'm wary around dangerous animals...especially if that animal was a snake. So to make sure I don't get bitten, I gently pressed the viper's head against its body. But every time I did that, the viper would bite itself. I don't, for the life of me, know why it would do that but the bite caused the viper to bleed. Again, I gently pressed the viper's head and again, it bit itself.
When I pressed its head a third time, the viper bled profusely. That's when I woke up...gasping for breath.

Coincidence? I think not! (See entry below)

In this dream, I may be in grade school or high school. Whatever the case may be, I was competing in an art contest where students were to draw pictures on a blackboard in front of a live audience.
I was watching the other students draw and I had to admit, their drawings were beautiful. At the time, I wondered what I'd be drawing. I figured that since I had an interest in architecture, I'd draw houses and/or buildings. I don't know why, but instead of drawing a single edifice, I decided to draw a street scene and a cityscape.
This reminds me of the time I was in high school. Every time class elections were held, I was always chosen as the secretary. That meant, I kept track of students' daily attendance on the blackboard. It was during a homeroom period that we had nothing to do and I was told to "decorate" the attendance section. With chalk in hand, I filled the blackboard with X-wing fighters from the movie Star Wars and the Chrsyler Building from the movie Q. (Back then, I mistook the Chrysler Building for the Empire State Building.)
This is more than I can say for my dream. When it was my turn to draw, I found that I didn't know how to draw a street scene or a cityscape!

P.S.: This dream also came true...sort of. I'm currently working on a couple of comic book illustrations that I'll be submitting to the Viper Comics Talent Search '09.

In my Entertainment Japan blog, I wrote about the Mount Pinatubo eruption that occured here in the Philippines way back in 1991. I mentioned that at the time of the eruption, day turned to night as the tephra fallout blocked out the sun within Mount Pinatubo's vicinity. I specified that the 3:00 P.M. sky looked like it was 6:00 P.M.
The opposite happened in my dream. I was in a parking lot and the sky was lit up like it was late afternoon. But I looked at my watch and it was actually 9:00 P.M. This reminded me of a Little League baseball game I saw on television years ago. The game was held in a city in California. The game looked like it was being played just before sunset. Imagine my surprise when the television announcer said that it was actually 9:00 P.M.
In my other dream, I was in my bedroom when I heard a recurring metallic sound coming from downstairs. Descending the stairs, I found my mother in the living room slicing something on a plate. To her left was my father who was lying in a fetal position sleeping. Mom seemed upset about something. At one point, she threw a duffel bag onto a sofa as if she was about to pack.
There are two things peculiar about this dream. One: Dad doesn't live with us anymore so to find him sleeping at home is kind of strange. Two: when I woke up, I heard the same recurring metallic sound that I did in my dream.

This one's a double-bill. The first has something to do with a school exam. I don't know if it's a pop quiz or a mid-term exam. But what made this dream interesting is the person officiating the exam. She's an American actress and...well, I don't think I can give any details beyond that. But the fact that she's famous (and how!) seems to have flown over our heads as we spent most of our homeroom period with our noses in our school textbooks.
In my next dream, I was trying to get rid of some merchandize. They look like the small toys that come with McDonald's Happy Meals. The reason why I'm trying to get rid of them has nothing to do with the toys themselves and as with the previous dream, I can't divulge anymore than that.
What made this dream interesting is the way I disposed the toys. I did it by returning to the store where I purchased them. There, I'd surreptitiously place the toys back in the very shelves that I found them.

UPDATE (07-19-09): It seems that the second dream came true...sort of. I was at a toy store yesterday with my mother and my nephew. I was looking at some plastic toy animals when lo and behold I saw Scrat from the Ice Age movies. What's unusual about it is that while all the other animals are generic toys, Scrat is a licensed product. Not only that, but that particular Scrat toy is the same one that comes with the McDonald's Happy Meal set for the recent Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs movie. To further complicate things, that toy was missing its...er...nut.

Just this morning, I dreamt I was watching an episode of the Disney television series Wizards of Waverly Place starring Selena Gomez. It seemed like an episode I'd already seen because like most of my dreams, it looked familiar yet different.

I probably had this dream because I'm excitied to see Selena in another Disney television show Sonny with a Chance starring her BFF Demi Lovato. In that episode, scheduled to air June 7, Selena and Demi will switch places, i.e. Selena will play "Sonny" and Demi will play "Alex".
And for fans of both shows, Wizards will soon start production on a third season while Sonny recently got picked up for a second season!

In my dream, I was back in school (Oh no! I can't believe it! I'm back in school!) It was Home Room period (I think) where the teacher had the students sing. My brother (who's two years younger than I am) had just finished singing and soon it was my turn.
The teacher had me sing (of all things) a song about pets and I wondered what "pet" song I would sing. I thought about it for a moment and said, "Hey! We have a dog!" (Actually, we never had a pet dog.) The teacher nodded in assent and I started racking my brain for songs about dogs.
After what seemed like an eternity, I smiled sheepishly and admitted that I'm not very familiar with songs about animals. The teacher then gave me a song book and I quickly leafed through the pages for a song about dogs.
And then I woke up.

So in my dream we have this aquarium at home. And there was this big fish swimming around in it. There was something crazy going on in that aquarium and I felt like the fish was going to want to leave it in some fashion as it tried to keep its head above water. And leave it did!
After a few minutes of staring at it, the fish began sprouting legs. Moments later, the fish turned into an iguana and promptly climbed out of the aquarium and onto a nearby shelf!
And once there, the iguana turned around and transformed into a four-inch...horse? (...complete with reins, saddles and everything)

I saw the second episode of Demi Lovato's Sonny With A Chance sitcom yesterday morning...and I loved it...so much so that I dreamt about it this morning.
Sonny With A Chance features a "show-within-a-show" titled So Random! which consists of comedic sketches that varies from episode to episode. In my dream, Demi Lovato's character "Sonny" is performing a sketch with "Chad Dylan Cooper" played by Sterling Knight. Chad Dylan Cooper is the star of another "show-within-a-show" titled McKenzie Falls.
The sketch involves a magic act where one of them was supposed to pull a pidgeon out of a hat. The act goes haywire, however, as the pidgeons fly prematurely whereupon they fly around the set and wreak havoc. This is kind of similar to the So Random! sketch with the flying "chicken bits".
Anyway, I love the show and I'm looking forward to more episodes!

...but I seem to be the weakest link. I dreamt that I was a contestant in a quiz show. One thing odd about that particular game show was that it was held at some old lady's house. (Nice house that.) Anyway, I got to the final round where I was to identify a person featured in a video.
And that's where I had my "epic fail" moment. I first identified the person as "John Campbell". I was wrong. Then I identified him as "Joseph Campbell". Wrong again. He's not the "Hero of a Thousand Faces" guy. Then I tried the name "Johnathan Campbell". Ehhh...dead wrong! Then I thought, "Howsabout 'Jason Campbell'?" Well...no. He's not the comic book artist.
After a couple of minutes of soul-searching, I finally figured out who the guy in the video was. But it was too late. And I lost. @#$%^&*(-+= you, Bobby Ewing!
